About the Owners, Rick and Cindy Quinnett
We are so excited to bring to Hampstead, Maryland, Fika Coffee Bar. For Rick, this has been a lifelong dream. After serving in church ministry for 25 years, it was time to follow his heart in this new ministry of his. He bakes all Fika’s pastries himself, and doesn’t let them leave the kitchen unless they are perfect. It must run in the family as his grandfather and great-grandfather both had bakeries! As for Cindy, this lady can do anything. While helping fulfill her husband, Rick’s dream, she also blesses Pennsylvania and Maryland with her Real Estate work. We have four kids and a grandson who all pushed Rick to pursue his dreams and we are so glad they did! We have worked together to make this coffee bar one-of-a-kind, with only the best coffee, teas, products, pastries, and customer service. We hope the definition of “Fika” resonates with everyone who enjoys food or drink here. Let’s go and Fika!
Why Fika?
While our family is not Swedish, we chose Fika because of the meaning. It perfectly encompassed what we wanted to achieve in this coffee shop. Fika is a concept, state of mind, and an attitude. At its core, Fika accurately describes what a coffee shop should be, which is a place to slow down, to meet with others, and to appreciate good coffee and pastries while doing so.
We hope to earn a place in the loving Hampstead community as we are starting out. We already have amazing regulars, received outstanding feedback on social media, and developed new friendships. We have been blessed to have already hired two employees, and hope to keep expanding and growing our team. Hampstead has opened their arms wide to us, and we couldn't be more grateful, especially to be located right on Main Street! Even though Rick would prefer to roast his own beans, as we begin this journey we have partnered with Square One Roasters in Lancaster, PA to supply our coffee and tea products. We supply gluten free options sourced from Amaranth Bakery, also located in Lancaster. We are so excited to be a part of this coffee bar and hope Hampstead is too! See you soon!
